Dr. Jagadish Thaker

Dr. Jagadish Thaker (JT) is a leading international field researcher on climate change audiences and segmentation based in Communication and Arts at the University of Queensland. 

As Associate Editor of the 3 Volumes of the Oxford Encyclopedia of Climate Change Communication (2018), Oxford University Press, and International Trends in Environmental Communication (2021), Routledge, Dr. Thaker has researched widely in climate change communications.  

Dr. Thaker is skilled in conducting complex ‘audience segmentation’ field research in climate change interpretive communities and is best known for conducting, with Anthony Leiserowitz and others at the Yale Program in Climate Change Communication,  two of the largest ever studies conducted globally: Leiserowitz, Anthony and Thaker, Jagadish (2013) Global warming’s Six Indias. (2013) and Global Warming’s Four Indias, 2022: An Audience Segmentation Analysis.  Dr. Thaker has also led audience segmentation research in New Zealand and Australia on climate change and public health.
