Dr. Mike S. Schäfer is a professor of science communication and head of department at IKMZ - Department of Communication and Media Research at the University of Zürich. He’s one of leading academic researchers of climate change communication, focusing particularly on mediated communication in news and social media and on public perceptions of climate change and climate science. He has published widely on these issues, and was a co-editor of the 2017 “Oxford Encyclopedia of Climate Change Communication”. From 2020 to 2021, Schäfer served as a “Thinker in Residence” at the Belgium Academy of the Sciences on the topic of language and climate change.
