Dr. Kim Reid

Dr Kimberley Reid is a climate scientist at the University of Melbourne and Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Weather of the 21st Century. She completed her PhD in 2022 at the University of Melbourne on the topic of Atmospheric Rivers and extreme rainfall in Australia and New Zealand. She worked as a research fellow at Monash University where she led a study on the 2022 floods in Eastern Australia. She returned to the University of Melbourne in late 2024 and is working on understanding foggy weather and the hazards it poses. She is a passionate science communicator who regularly appears in the media to explain all things weather and climate; she provided evidence to the Victorian and NSW government inquiries on flooding and climate resilience; and performed a climate comedy stand-up routine at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
