Melissa Lyne
Melissa is a strategic communications specialist with more than two decades of experience translating complex information into clear, engaging narratives that inspire understanding and action. Her career spans research, government, education and non-profit sectors, with a focus on initiatives that advance sustainability, resilience and social impact.
She has worked with leading organisations including UNSW Sydney, the Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society, the ARC Centre of Excellence for Coral Reef Studies, the Australian Museum and the Office of the Commissioner for Sustainability and the Environment (ACT). Across these roles, Melissa has helped raise the visibility and influence of the science and innovation tackling some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
With degrees in science and journalism as well as postgraduate qualifications in science communication and strategic communication, Melissa brings both technical literacy and creative insight to her work. She is adept at connecting researchers, industry and the public to promote understanding, strengthen collaboration and support informed decision-making.
Committed to fostering the next generation of communicators, Melissa also teaches postgraduate courses at UNSW’s School of the Arts and Media.
